MIKE CHUKWU - Managing Director / CEO
Mike Chukwu was for four years, the Managing Director /
CEO of the former Guardian Express Bank Plc. Before then,
he had served as Deputy Vice President (Investment Banking)
at First Inland Bank where his job function spanned Treasury
(both local and foreign currency), Corporate Finance, Private
Banking and Internet Banking. It was during his time at
First Inland that Internet Banking was first deployed in
Nigeria. He began his career in banking at the Fidelity
Bank as the Assistant Financial Controller.
He has also
served as pioneer Financial Controller, Citizens International
Bank (1990); Assistant Vice President First City Monument
Bank (1996) and Assistant General Manager, United Bank for
Africa (1998). Prior to the beginning of his banking career
in 1989, Chukwu had trained and qualified as a Chartered
Accountant in the high-brow firm of Price Waterhouse, where
for four (4) years he was involved in multi-disciplinary
assignments in consulting, auditing and taxation. He was
the First Prize Award Winner in the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Foundation Examinations of
November 1986 and was admitted Fellow of the Institute in
1998.
He holds a first degree in Political Science and lectures
regularly in the programmes of the Financial Institutions
Training Centre (FITC) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers
of Nigeria (CIBN). He also holds the professional membership
of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Nigerian
Institute of Management and the Institute of Directors (IOD).
