Simon Millett joined Standard Chartered Bank Group in August 2001 and has been Managing Director / CEO in Nigeria since November 2003.
An Australian citizen, Simon had a career in the Royal Australian Navy (11 years) where he specialized as a mine warfare and clearance diving officer, serving on a number of ships and in many locations including United Kingdom, New Zealand and Canada.
In July 1998 Simon commenced a career in the Financial Services industry that currently spans 18 years. After joining Westpac as a management consultant, he undertook roles in project management, business development, strategy and finance, before moving into CEO roles. Prior to Nigeria, Simon was CEO of Pacific Commercial Bank in Samoa, MD/CEO of Westpac Bank in Papua New Guinea. In 2001 he joined Standard Chartered and ran the franchise in Sierra Leone until his recent assignment MD/CEO in SCB Nigeria.
Simon has a Bachelor of Science from the University of New South Wales, Sydney and a Master of Business Administration degree from Macquarie University, Sydney. He is a keen sportsman who enjoys cricket, tennis, rugby union (as a spectator now), swimming and golf amongst many and he is married with 4 teenage children (2 boys, 2girls), all of whom currently reside in Australia.
